George Herbert Latue was killed in action on 10th May 1918. The Northern Daily Mail on the 17th May quoted from the letter written by Latue's captain to his widow:

"I hope it will be some consolation to you to know that as an NCO he was one of the best and a general favourite with his comrades and just at the time of his death was to have received promotion."
